Express Entry

Express Entry is an electronic application management system that facilitates the immigration process for skilled foreign workers who want to immigrate to Canada. It is a highly competitive system that selects the best candidates based on their skills, work experience, education, language ability, and other similar factors.

If you are a skilled worker interested in immigrating to Canada, you can create an Express Entry profile and enter a pool of candidates. Your profile will be assessed based on your qualifications and experience, and you will be ranked against other candidates using a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). If you are among the highest-scoring candidates, you will be invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada through regular draws from the pool.

Express Entry is designed to be a faster and more efficient way to manage applications for permanent residency in Canada, with most applications being processed in six months or less. It is also designed to meet the current and future economic needs of Canada by selecting skilled workers who have the potential to contribute to the Canadian economy and help address labour shortages in certain sectors and regions.

Express Entry manages applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
This Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
  • Canadian Experience Class
This program is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used by Express Entry to evaluate the profiles of candidates and rank them against one another based on various factors like age, education, language ability, work experience, and other factors.

There is no minimum score required for Express Entry. The CRS score cut-off varies in each draw, and candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residency.
