The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a program that accelerates the processing of study permit applications for those intending to pursue their education in Canada. Typically, SDS applications processing time is much quicker which may take up to 20 days. Requirements:

  • DLI Registered Institute
  • English Language Proficiency Requirement – IELTS minimum 6 in all bands till September 2023
  • Tuition Fee for 1 year
  • Living expenses GIC account CAD 10,000.

Non-SDS Stream

The Non-SDS is a general processing program that supports international students willing to study in Canada by applying for a study permit. Non-SDS applications may take longer processing time. Requirements:

  • Need to pass the Educational Institution’s English Language Proficiency Requirement
  • The payment for one semester’s tuition fee is required in advance
  • Bank Statement summary revealing the tuition fee and the living expenses of the past few months

Work Opportunites

With the students able to have flexible class schedules, they easily have time to work while studying. International students in Canada who hold off-campus work authorization on their study permit are authorized to work off-campus for 20 hours per week. Eligibility criteria:

  • Holding a valid study permit
  • Studying full-time
  • Maintaining satisfactory academic standing determined by the institution
  • Enrolling in an academic, vocational, or professional training program that lasts at least six months and culminates in a degree, diploma, or certificate, and
  • Obtain a Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Co-op Programs​

Co-op programs are a popular academic pathway for international students opting to study in Canada. These are study programs that include work periods in companies in the field, where they perform career-related functions. Co-op employers pay students for the hours they put in which is enough to cover their day to day expenses as an international student. While the eligibility criteria may vary for each organization, there are some standard requirements which are as follows:

  • The student must be enrolled as a full-time scholar
  • The student must be registered for a co-op course
  • The co-op course must be a validated one registered with the Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL Canada)
  • Student should be above the minimum age requirement as per the rules of the province of the educational institute
