Entrepreneur Stream (OINP)
OINP stands for Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. Under the OINP, the Government of Ontario can nominate eligible foreign workers and international students with job offers from Ontario employers for permanent residency in Canada. The program has various streams, of which have different eligibility requirements.
The Entrepreneur Stream of OINP is designed to cater to entrepreneurs from outside Canada interested in starting a new business or buying an existing business in Ontario. The stream is meant to attract experienced business owners and managers who can contribute to Ontario’s economy by creating jobs, generating new investments, and promoting innovation.
The program gives an entrepreneur (and up to one foreign national business partner) the opportunity to receive a temporary work permit to establish and operate their business in Ontario. If they meet the conditions of their performance agreement, they then are given the opportunity to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residency.
